Hand-Split & Re-Sawn Shakes
Our high-quality western red cedar shake features a split face and sawn back, so one side is naturally rustic in appearance while the other side is smooth.

Thickness
Ranges from 3/8-inch to 2-inch plus. The most common thicknesses are:
- “Medium” 1/2-inch (1.27 cm)
- “Heavy” 3/4-inch (1.905 cm)
Grades
- Premium (100% Vertical Grain)
- #1 Grade (80% Vertical Grain)
- #2 Grade (Mixed Grain)
- #3 Grade
Usage
- These shakes are popular on traditional and historical homes and ranchers, as they are designed to blend with their rustic surroundings.

Tapersawn Shakes
Our western red cedar tapersawn shakes fall between resawn shakes and cedar shingles. Although it is sawn on both sides, it is thicker, less precise, and has a stronger shadowline than a cedar shingle.
